It tends to make no distinction what media you use to promote, the rules are the same. Advantages, benefits, benefits.

Promote benefits and your advertising will be a success. Consider a poll, they do not care about car dealers, banks or tire stores. All they care about is “What’s in it for me?”.

The fact that your dealership has been number 1 in the mid-region for three straight many years is not advertising – it is bragging!

Clarify what you have done for others. Inform what you can do for them. Remember the rule – it is always about them – not about you! Look at the advertising about you. Egads! Most of it is about the advertiser. Particularly that twenty foot mug shot of the car dealer on the billboard.

Think benefits and you have a leg up on advertising that functions, rather than advertising that will get the neighbors to say “Hey, I noticed you on the billboard”, or “..noticed your image in the paper again.” Trust me, strangers won’t point out your image. And that giant billboard pic won’t bring a sole through the door or get them to purchase your product.

The reason you see so a lot bad advertising is that “ego” sells and the newspapers and billboard individuals know it. You even listen to individuals who cannot study stumbling through their own radio commercials. Three pals point out it and they believe the advertising was a success and signal up for more.

You do not need a image of your creating, you need a description of what is within and what it can do for me. Do not tell me you have the biggest choice, or latest styles and colours. Inform me if you do not have it in stock you can get it overnight. Do not tell me you have twenty years’ expertise. Inform me you’ll show up on time, scent great and fix my toilet, or I do not pay.

Let the other guys flush their ad money with giant pictures of the staff, or Tv commercials with the grand kids shouting a slogan. You focus on WIIFM, What’s In It For Me, and your advertising will function harder for you.
