Be Grateful for Gratitude
In Twelve Step conferences, it’s traditional to groan when somebody says, "Let’s have a gratitude meeting." People do not like to talk or believe about what they’re grateful for. It is not in our nature. We’re more tuned to what is heading incorrect than what is heading right. We cannot help it. The cave males who sat around and admired how white the teeth on the saber toothed tiger had been, didn’t last lengthy sufficient to reproduce. The ones who recognized those teeth had been a poor factor are our ancestors, so to communicate.
But gratitude is important. Sometimes I just sit in my workplace, which I painted and embellished myself following moving into a fantastic new home, and I look at all the hangings on the wall and the things on my desk and the publications on my shelves and I remember growing up in a home exactly where I couldn’t sleep in my bed room in the winter because the north wind blew via the window and the space was uninhabitable. And I really feel grateful.
Gratitude gets a poor rap as being some sort of "feel-good" factor, but it’s not. Real, accurate, deep gratitude arrives from the soul. It is not some pop-tradition factor. It is not some thing you say to make your self look good or to make somebody else really feel good.
Real gratitude is truly appreciating what you have, and feeling it’s sufficient. Sure, there are other things you’d like to have. There always will be. But in gratitude, you understand that if you do not get the new car or the new home, it’s sufficient.
We ought to be "grateful for gratitude" because it’s 1 of the fastest ways to enjoy our lives and really feel happier. This simple method, practiced every day, can change your existence.
