Do You See Clearly?
“I do not see how I can just make up my mind to be pleased and effective and all of a sudden, magically, I will be. That appears to me to be a denial of my reality. My life is a mess. I am not pleased. My life is not a good results.” she wrote.
She was replying to my e-mail response to her first inquiry. She had written to ask how I could write (in a prior write-up in this eZine) that if you wanted to be pleased, you just had to choose to be pleased. I had replied, in my first e-mail, that how we felt about ourselves and our life was entirely within our control and as soon as we had decided to change how we felt, believed and thought, the circumstances and of our lives would change to meet our new expectations.
This conundrum is surely the ‘catch-22′ of self-enhancement. You must both accept the reality of where you are at and, at the exact same time, deny its greatest veracity in order to produce a new, bigger and much better, reality.
Now, I am not stating you should go into denial about the facts of your life. That’s a huge error. Numerous people try to reside with their shortcomings, failures and addictions by becoming in denial and it does not function. Nothing gets any much better that way. Often it gets even worse.
Numerous people also try to change their life by muttering some affirmation like “I am pleased, wholesome, wealthy and wise,” in a blind try to convince on their own that they are not sad, unhealthy, impoverished and foolish. This does not function too well both.
I am not suggesting that affirmations are not helpful. They can be a extremely powerful device and, used correctly, they can be a big help in changing your predominant believed patterns, your core beliefs and your fundamental emotional outlook on life.
However, it is necessary, if we want to enhance our lot in life, to first encounter and accept that we have certain core beliefs, predominant believed patterns and fundamental feelings attitudes. Then, we also must accept that it is these extremely beliefs, thoughts and feelings that have created the reality that we now have in our lives.
Then, we must determine to adopt new, enhanced, intentional methods of believing, pondering and feeling in order to produce the new reality we have idealized and desired for ourselves. This is not denial. It is the acceptance of our co-creative skills and, the acceptance our freedom to choose what and how to think, and really feel. It is the taking on of the responsibility for one’s life, as it is, and as it could be.
It is the dealing with and accepting of the reality that we cannot blame the and circumstances of our current life for how we really feel, how and what we think, what we . It is the dealing with and accepting of the reality that how we have been feeling, how and what we have been pondering, what we have been believing has actually contributed to the and circumstances of our lives.
What we have is a result of what we have carried out. What we have carried out is a result of how we have been. How we have been is a result of how we have felt, believed and thought about ourselves and about life as a whole.
If you want to change or enhance what you have in life (the , circumstances–the effects), you must address the cause. You have the energy to consciously and intentionally choose your emotions, your thoughts and your beliefs. These are the cause of your joy and good results because they control how you act or react, what you do or do not do and it is what you enact, minute-by-minute, that creates the outcomes you get to have day-to-day.
Yes, it is tough function. However, it is not as tough as residing an sad and unsuccessful life. Why continue to do so just because you are habituated to performing so?
So, it is not about denying the reality of how life has been till now it is about viewing and accepting that there is a higher reality in how you choose life will be from now on. Concentrate your vision on the ideal. Affirm its reality. Feel its reality. Believe in its reality. Act accordingly. Don’t be surprised when it turns out to be just the way you imagined it to be.
