Key to Starting Your Own Clothing Company
Starting your own personal label clothes company is not as difficult as you may think. I assure you that the founding members of Volcom, Paul Frank, Hurley and Von Dutch, are not mad geniuses of style. You can duplicate their rise to brand stardom supplied that you have the following:
1. A good logo
2. Creative ideas and graphics – Style Talent
three. A unique, blank apparel supplier
four. A good display printer
five. A Line Sheet to show possible buyers
six. Sales and promotional expertise.
Which do you think is most important? Its obviously style expertise you say? Are you Joking? You must be joking. Have you stepped out of the home lately? Have you seen Von Dutch clothes? Crayon weilding Chimpanzes produce better designs. Furthermore, I picture the monkeys are much more sanitary, but I digress.
#six is obviously the most important component. You can create an whole line of style forward, beautiful clothes but if you cannot pitch it – no 1 will ever see it (excluding your mother of program). So, unless of course you want a closet complete of your great designs, ask yourself the following two questions:
Can I sell?
In other words……can I hit the pavement with my line sheet and stroll into each and every boutique clothes store I can discover? Then will I harass the hell out of retail clothes store buyers so that they’ll attempt to squeeze five minutes of time in for me at Magic 06′ (Clothes Convention) ?
Will I be able to make a expert presentation to a Nordstroms buyer?
Can I promote?
Do I have and creative viral or gureilla advertising suggestions to get this label kickstarted?
If the solution to both of these questions is No – you better get some assist. Particularly, discover somebody passionate for style who also occurs to be ridiculously outgoing, great on the telephone and aggressive as hell. Lastly, (and superficially) it would assist if your sales rep is scorching.
I know, how horrible…..so sorry, buy I didn’t say anything about this becoming an equal chance blog
That becoming said, let me welcome you the shallow finish of the pool….. i.e. the style world.
Great luck with your label!
