Earlier on today, I brought you the news of the 6.9 earthquake hitting the Qinghai province in China. We now have some updated information at hand now, and apparently Chinese state television have said how the death toll has now unfortunately risen to 400.

The quantity of people injured within the quake has also risen, and now stands at over 10,000, CTTV has reportedly quoted an emergency official Pubucairen as saying. Rescue workers are struggling to dig trapped people out from the rubble at the Qinghai province.

However, rescue efforts have been hindered by telecommunications problems, with phone lines being down. Officials say how the initial 6.9 earthquake, which hit the county of Yushu – a Tibetan area in Qinghai’s south – was followed by several aftershocks.

The leading quake sent many residents fleeing, since it toppled houses that were made from mud and wood said Karsum Nyima, the Yushu county television station’s deputy head of news.
